"Media in the last 5 years have changed vertically. The technology has made it much easier to convert the ideas into audio visual formats. The whole process of Digital News gathering, Satellite News gathering, storing the recorded data, making it available on line to various work stations simultaneously, producing it to interesting news stories and feature capsule and then broadcasting it, all this and even more has become so user friendly that even a new comer becomes tech savvy journalist in few days", says Pankaj Shukla, a Film maker and Senior Journalist while talking to Media Mughals about the changing trends of technology in media.
He believes that change is the only constant thing and this formula applies to Media to its roots. He further says that, "Not even TV; in films too 35 MM film format is facing a new challenge from the cameras like RED ONE that records in 35 MM format and with higher resolutions than 35 MM films, but directly on Hard Drive or Memory Discs. No more scanning of the films and then digitising it and not even this going to lab to get the tele cine done is also becoming old fashion thing."
He further adds that, "From Camera to Edit Table directly, no one has even thought of this some years back. Technology is changing faster than expected, but the question is that are we ready to hold the pulse, quality and sanctity of the content to match the same pace, probably not. It’s Mind vs. Machine in media these days and while Machines are taking a lead, we need to match the content with it to keep the final product entertaining as will informing too at the same time."
