Radio Mantra celebrates magician of words Gulzar's birthday: Gulzaarish
Radio Mantra will mark 18th of August with special celebrations called 'Gulzaarish' as the poet, script writer, lyricist, film director and one of the most versatile artists to leave his mark on cinema as well as literature:Gulzar turns 77!
The station will be painted in the shades of the legendary poet's work spanning over 5 decades 'Sampooran Singh Kalra' better known by his popular pen name “Gulzar” has written for many hindi movies apart than donning the directors hat for movies like Mausam, Maachis, Hu tu tu and TV serial Mirza Ghalib. Along with all the interesting trivia and sher-o-shayaris, Mantra will pay tribute to the legend by playing hand picked 77 songs penned by him.
Commenting on the activity, Kanwar Sameer, National Programming Head, Radio Mantra said, “Gulzaar Shahab is not only immensely talented but also extremely philosophical which reflects in his poetry. He can so easily get into your heart with his words of wisdom and never get out of your mind. 'Gulzaarish' is our way of extending the gratitude to this legendary all-in-one wizardly poet, Gulzar!”
Mantra RJ Rehan will read out his illustrious literature work like Raavi Par to the listeners in his late evening show “Love Aaj Kal”. “Action replay” will focus on his remarkable contribution to the Indian Cinema as a lyricist and writer while “Ticket To Bollywood” will portray his work in the recent times and how his poetry has evolved to fit in the modern times. Evening drive time show “Route no. 919” will feature top 30 superhit songs of the writer
