The downturn in the economy hasnt stopped Cisco from investing in digital video company Digitalsmiths.

The amount of Cisco’s investment hasn't been disclosed but Digitalsmiths is reportedly said that it would use the additional funding to further accelerate its product development.� In November of last year, Digitalsmiths had raised $12 million in second-round financing.

Digitalsmiths is a video indexing and digital content publishing technology provider with customers that include major Hollywood studios, Web video destinations, media companies and advertisers.

The company's proprietary computer vision-based video indexing, search and interpretation algorithms help content owners and publishers efficiently monetize their digital video content, and help advertisers to automatically target ads to thematically relevant video content.
