Bharti Airtel registers quarterly profit down by 32%

India's premier telecom player Bharti Airtel has come up with its quarterly financial results. In its posting, a derogation of 32% has been registered for the first quarter of this fiscal which ended in June this year.
The result also includes income from its African assets which the company had recently acquired from Zain Telecom for $9 billion.
The net profit of the telecom firm fell to Rs 1682 crore ($361.7 million) from Rs 2475 crore a year earlier. However, the total revenue rose to Rs 12231 crore from Rs 10414 crore. The company's average revenue per user fell 22.7 per cent to Rs 215 in April-June but minutes of usage rose 0.4 per cent to 480 minutes.
Airtel's shares are valued at $27 billion. They registered downfall of about 16% in April-June but have jumped about 24% since end June. The company has recently announced that it is indulged in talks for the possible future acquisition of Telecom Seychelles Ltd. |
