China instructs foreign journalists to take care of laws

   Print    Email

China on Monday suggested foreign journalists to stick to laws and be careful while reporting activities in the country. Recently DPA(Deutsche Presse-Agentur) reported that police in Shanghai detained at least 15 foreign journalists who were trying to report a weekly anti-government "strolling" protest.

Further, the report added that a Bloomberg journalist was allegedly beaten as he tried to film at a protest site in Beijing's Wangfujing shopping street. Reportedly, Police in Shanghai and Beijing took at least 16 journalists in custody, including a DPA reporter, to prevent them from reporting anti-government protests in the two cities.

However, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, denied such reports and said that the Chinese people had a joyful Lunar New Year and Lantern Festival. Now they have engaged themselves with work and have been focused in pursuing domestic development.
