Youngsters can now get their couches ready in order to watch the uncut version of their favorite 'adult' reality TV shows. As per the recent information Entertainment Channels may have to shift most reality shows from prime time to post- 11pm if the program contains elements which does not suits to general audiences.
The I&B Ministry is discussing this matter with the Indian Broadcasting Foundation to shift the programs at watershed hours i,e between 11pm to 4am, so that Channels can show the content which is not meant for children. This content code will apply to all entertainment channels, and will not allow any adult content in regular time, as India does not have enough safeguards like parental lock on TV. The code will be ready in a month and will be implemented by Broadcast Content Complaints Council(BCCC).
Recently I&B Minister, Ambika Soni informed that the Government has given a green signal to self-regulation of TV Content. The BCCC will work along with self regulatory council National Broadcasting Association(NBA), under Justice J S Verma. The BCCC will include 12 members of which four will be broadcast industry representatives. There will be four representatives of civil society and one member each from NCW, NCPCR, National Commission for SC/ST and a representative of the national commission of the affected party.
The Ministry is also in talks with other political parties on this subject. The I&B minister has already taken consent of her Cabinet colleagues, Home Minister P Chidambaram and Law Minister Veerappa Moily on this issue and will be meeting other political leaders soon. |
