Samsung unveils latest Android smartphone

Samsung Electronics unveiled its first smartphone that runs on Google's latest version of the Android operating system on Wednesday.
The Galaxy Nexus will be available in markets from November and will intensify competition against Apple Inc as Samsung and Apple battle it out for a larger share of the tablets and smartphones market.
Google's Android mobile software is currently the world's most-used smartphone platform. The latest version of Android has been named Ice Cream Sandwich and has been designed to combine tablet and smartphone platforms.
Samsung announced that the Galaxy Nexus will offer more than 300,000 applications and games.
The Galaxy Nexus comes with a 4.65-inch high-definition "super" AM-OLED display and a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It also includes new functions like face recognition used to unlock the phone.
Samsung also plans to introduce another version of the Galaxy Nexus which will run on faster Long-Term Evolution (LTE) networks.
