TVS Electronics (TVS-E) becomes the first and only Indian IT firm to roll out a keyboard that has support for the new Indian Rupee symbol. The company has surfaced TVS Gold Bharat keyboard that has a key for the new Rupee symbol.
This embarks on a new benchmark reached by the Company as the Rupee symbol was announced just a month back. Though the symbol is in use for print publications or facilities but it is yet to be made to use in the overall Indian sphere.
With the announcement of the adoption of the new symbol Government had mentioned about adoption of the new symbol, mix of the Devanagri 'Ra' and Roman 'R', in the 'Unicode Standard' so as to be used in major scripts of the world to be easily displayed and printed in the electronic and print media.
During the announcement of the new symbol, Minister of Information & Broadcasting Ambika Soni had mentioned that the symbol will be adopted in a span of six months in the country, and within 18 to 24 months globally along with featuring on computer keyboards and software for worldwide use.
TVS-E Gold Bharat keyboard thus begins a new journey for the Indian currency symbol. Moreover, the company dedicated this development to the nation on its 64th Independence Day.
Announcing the launch of TVS Gold Bharat Keyboard, Mr. S. S. Raman, Managing Director, TVS Electronics said, "We are proud to depict the Indian Rupee symbol in our keyboard and we are the first and only Indian manufacturer to do so. We are also facilitating faster and comprehensive rollout across all the products."
