LG Electronics will be unveiling its first mobile digital television device for the US-market at the 2010 International Consumer Electronic Show 2010 (CES). LG, along with Samsung owns patents to the ATSC M/H mobile DTV standard.
As the cellular phones is continuously evolving as a more convergent medium ensuring mobility, LG seeks to tap the US mobile TV market with its new line of hardware complimenting the recently set protocol for broadcasting the mobile DTV.
The new Mobile DTV protocol set in the United States of America works a lot like mobile broadcasting signals in other nations, where the local TV stations will be broadcasting the signals in a new manner that can be obtained by the portable devices within vehicles on the move. Currently these signals can be received by OTA antennas connected to televisions.
LG Electronics would be introducing DP570MH Mobile Digital Television with DVD Playback is one of the first ATSC M/H compliant consumer devices available. The mobile DTV device features a 7-inch wide display screen which has QVGA resolution of 480x234. Expected to be available later this year, the DP570MH is tipped to have retail price of $249.
