BlackBerry users to get free app hamper as compensation

Research In Motion Ltd (RIM) has announced that it will offer free premium apps worth more than US$100, as an expression of appreciation for the patience showcased by its customers during the BlackBerry service disruption last week.
In a bid to appease its customers, the Canadian smartphone maker will offer free of charge apps to its customers on BlackBerry App World. This complete selection of premium apps will be available from Wednesday, October 19th 2011 to Tuesday, December 31st 2011.
RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis said in a statement that "Our global network supports the communications needs of more than 70 million customers. We truly appreciate and value our relationship with our customers. We've worked hard to earn their trust over the past 12 years, and we're committed to providing the high standard of reliability they expect, today and in the future."
Some of the apps included in the free selection will include:
1. SIMS 3 - Electronic Arts
2. Bejeweled - Electronic Arts
3. N.O.V.A. - Gameloft
4. Texas Hold'em Poker 2 - Gameloft
5. Bubble Bash 2 - Gameloft
6. Photo Editor Ultimate - Ice Cold Apps
7. DriveSafe.ly Pro - iSpeech.org
8. iSpeech Translator Pro - iSpeech.org
9. Drive Safe.ly Enterprise - iSpeech.org
10. Nobex Radio™ Premium - Nobex
11. Shazam Encore - Shazam
12. Vlingo Plus: Virtual Assistant - Vlingo
In addition to this hamper, RIM's enterprise customers will be offered one free Technical Support for one month. The current customers will be offered one month complimentary extension of their existing Technical Support contract with trial be
nefits for new contract customers.

The company received a blow to its reputation last week and is currently on damage control to regain the confidence of its customers. They have not limited their efforts to mere apologies and intend to work tirelessly to restore what they have lost. The company has also claimed to undertake immediate steps to prevent any future breakdown of services. |
