Mittal justifies $9 billion's hefty payment for Zain assets

Sunil Bharati Mittal, (CMD Bharati Airtel) justified his hefty deal with Kuwait based Telecom firm Zain worth $9 billion. Pointing towards the growth opportunities in the African region he said that getting into the process of acquiring Zain's assets in the Dark Continent was not at all expensive.
However, on the contrary with in just 2 days of declaration acquisition process, shares of this Indian telecom giant registered a 13% downfall due to continuation in loss in Zain’s African operations.
Mittal said, "Zain has a population of 500 million under its ambit in around 15 nations of Africa with 35 mobile holders in every 100 people, we are assured of penetrating deeper in the market and will succeed in implementing a low cost, high volume model in the continent." |
