Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Mr. Sachin Pilot has assured the people of providing an all time cheaper access to the broadband services in the country very soon. The government is going to take strong steps towards achieving the goal. The minister was speaking at the inaugural session of Bangalore IT.biz 2010.
With an aim of connecting each and every panchayat of the country with high speed internet service with in just two years from now, the government is trying to provide the benefits of technology even to the deprived and rural regions.
"It's my endeavour to make sure this image — the psychological barriers we have had of the IT sector — is broken down. This sector is not for the elite and the educated in a few cities," said Pilot.
He further added that, "the real job, the real essence, the real value of the tech sector is not in creating investments and earning dollars. If the sector can improve the life of the common man, that's the true value."
"When panchayats are connected, it'll result in a paradigm shift in the interaction between citizens, state and central governments, and local bodies in terms of quicker, faster and transparent delivery of services," Pilot said. |
