Though the web browsing market is getting excessively competing and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer gradually losing ground to the other web browsers, the newly launched version Internet Explorer 9 has reached a new milestone in just two days.

According to Microsoft the beta version of the IE9 rolled out last week has been downloaded 2 million time within 48 hours of its launch.

At the official blog of Internet Explorer Roger Capriotti of Microsoft wrote, “The initial reaction has been pretty overwhelming.”

Further he also mentions that the success for IE9 is in contrast to the response received for the IE8, launched in August 2008, which received a mere 1.3 million downloads in first 5 days of the beta launch.

“We’ve seen 9 million visits and over 26 million page views to the Beauty of the Web site since its release last week, and our developer-focused IE Test Drive Site has had 4 million page views since last Wednesday,” added Capriotti.

IE9 is the latest version of the web browser which has been designed with an array of enhanced features and support for the users compared to the previous versions. Microsoft released the beta version for the browser on September 15 this year.

The IE9 supports HTML5, offers streamlined web browsing experience and uses PC’s graphics processing unit to have faster browsing through visuals, movies etc. the IE9 is available in beta version in more than 30 languages.

One of the drawbacks for the success of IE9 could be that the browser works on PCs with Windows 7 or Vista while not on PCs with the much more widely used Windows XP or on Macs.
