IT sector likely to offer more jobs in next fiscal: Pilot

Sachin Pilot on Thursday submitted a written reply in the Rajya Sabha regarding the state of Information Technology sector in the country. With all the statistics, he presented the facts that in the next fiscal year 2010-11 hike in job opportunities are expected in the IT sector as compared to the previous year.

However, in the year 2009-10, jobs are expected to touch the milestone of 2.29 million leaving behind the figure of 2.20 million in the previous year than that. This data has been gathered from National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). According to the studies of NASSCOM, the industry had to undergo tough circumstances in the first half of last year due to economic slowdown but the sector managed to survivor. Moreover IT sector is expected to be the leading job provider in the country in near future.

In the Financial Year 2009-10, the IT-ITES exports growth rate is estimated to be around 5.5%, down from 16.6% in the Financial Year 2008-09. However, with signs of global economic recovery, healthier growth rates are expected in 2010-11 and 2011-12.
