Google Inc has announced that it will start censoring content according to countries. The move comes soon after micro blogging site Twitter recently announced the same service.
The move however applies only to its blogging software Blogger currently. Google will start redirecting Blogger domain accounts to specific country domains based on user location.
The move does not mean that Google can automatically censor any content that is considered to be illegal according to local governments. It can however take the concerned content down in that country while the content is available in other countries of the world.
Google's idea is to promote free speech without entirely blocking access to some countries.
