Jagran rolls out 'Jagran Junction.com' a new bi-lingual blog

MMI Online, a venture of one of India’s leading media firm Jagran Prakashan Ltd. has rolled a new bi-lingual blog called ‘Jagran Junction’. The ‘Jagran Junction’ with the tagline ‘Aapki Aawaz, Aapka Blog’ (Your voice, Your Blog), went online as a beta version on 5th January 2010.
It offers the widespread readers of Jagran’s brands, such as Dainik Jagran, with a new platform that provides interactivity and opportunity to express their views in Hindi as well as English.
In an e-mail reply to Media Mughals, MMI Online CEO, Sukirti Gupta, remarks, “The Jagran Junction.com has been introduced with a vision to make it the #1 trusted place for quality and quantity non-news content. Moreover, it also facilitates the online interaction of Jagran readers with the Jagran editorial team.”
Ishita Kataria, HR Executive for MMI Online says, “Jagran Junction.com is a new and one-of a kind initiative providing with the blog application in bi-lingual format.”
On being asked about the support for two languages incorporated in the blog, Gupta mentions, “Jagran Junction has been created to provide a Blogging platform for readers in particular Hindi but support English readers as well where they can freely comment on Jagran editorials /general user generated content and also express their own viewpoint.”
The bloggers at the Jagran Junction can avail a readymade platform with integrated array of features through which readers can discuss issues, convey their grievances, concerns and invaluable suggestions on various categories like, News, Business, Sports, Entertainment, Social issues etc.
The blog has 60-40 ratio from readers and Jagran editors both in registrations and content generation. As far as the revenue model for the blog is concerned, the company is yet to device it “as it is still in its Beta, however, the plans are on the anvil once we move out of Beta stage,” informs Gupta.
With high plans for this new endeavour, MMI is making the product 100% user friendly with the development of new features to increase the onsite engagement, stickiness and experience. The company also plans to incorporate support for more languages in the blog in future. |
