Tata DoCoMo, the GSM brand by Tata Teleservices and NTT DoCoMo is working on implementing various strategies that definitely help it stand out from the crowd. It started with its special pay per second offer for the customers and now it is all set to bring those favourite comic characters to the mobile platform.

Tata DoCoMo
has entered into an alliance with the ACK Media and Walt Disney Animation Studios to introduce multimedia comics as a value added services for its users.

Tagged as ‘Comix on the Go’ this application would provide the Indian readers with a bundle of animated comics from the house of ACK Media and Walt Disney. These would be offered in a multimedia package accompanied with sound effects and theme songs. The selected comics included in this service are Suppandi, Akbar Birbal, Manga, Disney, Mickey Mouse, Panchtantra, Devi and a few others.

As the service is would be launched before Diwali this year, it would be initially available only on high-end Nokia phones that have S60 interface like N97. Besides, Tata DoCoMo is also working to make this service compatible with other handsets as well.

The subscription details for this new VAS service have not been revealed by the company yet.

Cellphone is considered as the new medium gaining popularity due to its easy to use interface. The VAS is tipped to be a major revenue contributor for the telcos, especially with number portability coming into picture soon. It is difficult to judge whether the introduction of ‘Comix on the go’ would help Tata DoCoMo turn consumers in its favour, but the application sounds absolutely brilliant!
