Digital Entertainment Network (DEN), promoted by Sameer Manchanda and Raghav Bahl, is planning to enter into the Internet Protocol Television space. The details of the launch are yet to be finalized, however the initial launch is expected to be restricted to metros including Delhi, Bangalore and Pune.
In terms of services, the concentration would be on 'time shift tv', demand services and other interactive services. The company is planning to invest a minimum of Rs. 150 crore in the IPTV vertical and is targeting average revenue per user of around Rs 450 to 500. The upper limit of the investment would depend on the rate of customer acquisition. Investments would be upped on the basis of demand.
At present, DEN claims to have a subscriber base of 10 million in the cable sector. It would be competing against big names like BSNL, MTNL and Bharti Airtel who are already present in the IPTV sector. |
