Gateway to Digital Marketing Excellence: SES 2012

The two day inaugural digital marketing event,"SES New Delhi 2012" kick started yesterday at the Leela Kempinski sharing valuable insights and providing a platform to better understanding the social media and digital marketing scenario.

With lessons on mobile marketing, app building &remarketing, smart analytics, social media strategy, search engine optimization (SEO), and search engine marketing (SEM), Return on Investment (ROI) the event had speakers with valuable expertise from Asia and across the world.

With digital marketing being the main focus of the SES the event explored various dimensions to it. The event was distributed into insightful panel discussions and skill based track sessions. 

During the track sessions and the panel discussions each of the experts had different things to share to the audience gathered there.

Sachin Bansal the Director of Search Value who spoke on Introduction to SEM shared delightful figures about Google owning 89% of the search market share with Yahoo and Bing losing its earlier 30% market share. His one point grabbed a lot of interest,"Twitter is a very good branding platform, but it is not a good platform for sales lead generation."

With experts from diverse backgrounds everyone had different dimensions to give to the phenomenon of digital marketing. Rajiv Parekh the CEO of Position2 spoke on empowering brand experience. Calling search marketing as numbers oriented he highlighted that empowering brands is all about building trust. Interestingly he made a an important point during his talk "India is the 3rd fastest app growing market in the world and ranks 5th as the country with the highest video viewing on the net."

Eklavya Bhattacharya Head of Digital MTV India spoke on the importance of content to help create a brand evangelist. Speaking on the MTV experience he said "Social media is not an information generator, it is a platform for information exchange and digital is not just about marketing."

The panel discussion moderated by Crispin Sheridan, senior director of Search Marketing SAP spoke on "Localization in a global world:Developing a cross border social media strategy." With differences of opinion among the panelist which constituted of Manish Kalra , head of marketing MakeMyTrip ,Nikhil Sarup Senior VP Digitas India and Jessie Paul the CEO of Paul Writer had experiences to share on the ever growing social media.

Nikhil Sarup termed the "social media as opportunistic" and Manish Kalra highlighted that “social marketing has been little on the hazy side in terms of return on Investment." Jessie Paul gave out a little secret to share when he said,"company should build a good digital presence if you have audience below the age of 30." 

With such insights and network SES New Delhi served as a good platform to digital marketing excellence.

SES is being held from4-5 December 2012 at Leela Kempinski Gurgaon.
