FM III to start rolling out from mid 2012

   Print    Email

Making a long and eagerly awaited announcement regarding the roll out of the FM Phase III in India, the secretary MIB Mr Uday Varma said at BES 2012 that , the process should start unfolding from the mid 2012. The statuary aspects of the same have been in process for the past few months and the TRAI recommendations have all been considered.

It may be recalled that MF Phase III, which would add another 800 plus FM radio stations to the already existing 240 odd FM stations, has been on the anvil since mid last year when the policy announcement confirming the same was made. There are more than 200 Indian cities which will reap the benefit of the FM III phase.

After the initial euphoria on the FM Phase III, things seemed to have cooled down due to delays but recently there has been a spate of moves from the ministry to put the e-auction, the process through which the new licenses will be awarded, on track.
