News International is close to settling the various phone hacking cases that were brought against it.
According to a report in Reuters the British arm of Rupert Murdoch owned News Corp facing more than 60 claims but the actual number of possible victims is almost 6,000.
Earlier last year News International's News of the World was shut down following a phone hacking scandal that saw widespread protests against its actions.
Most of the settlements are expected to be announced on Thursday subject to the approval of the judge.
News International had earlier in November last year announced a compensation scheme in for the victims of the phone-hacking incident. The company promised to pay 10 percent more than the amount considered appropriate by Charles Gray, a former high court judge overseeing the case.
