Extending its relation with its popular “The Speaking Tree” column, The Times of India (TOI) has unleashed it in the form of a new weekly newspaper.
‘The Speaking Tree’ was initially started by TOI as an everyday column published on the edit page of the main newspaper. The association was extended with the release of a series of books that compiled the ‘Best of The Speaking Tree’ articles in various volumes. And now Times Group, a leading media conglomerate in the Indian nation, takes this popular soul serving column to a weekly newspaper.
The first edition was circulated last Sunday (February 28, 2010) with the Sunday Times of India newspaper. Being offered at an introductory price of Re. 1, The Speaking Tree would reach the readers as an 8-page broadsheet devoted to physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
The newspaper is being edited by Narayani Ganesh. “Rather than bore you with long-winded articles, The Speaking Tree hopes to present you a choice of delectable and snack-sized titbits that will inform, entertain, humour and delight while also making accessible deep insights,” wrote the editor in her welcome note to the readers of this new publication and elaborating upon the content to be in this new newspaper.
The Speaking Tree is the most recent addition to the TOI’s wide array of publications. Prior to this, TOI most recently launched its weekly broadsheet news magazine – The Crest. |
