The Peninsula Studios and Universal Music India, part of the world's largest music company, the Universal Music Group, have announced a strategic partnership.

The initiative is to provide a platform for musicians from across the peninsula that will transcend boundaries of countries, languages and genres in South Asia.

The Peninsula Studios was established in 2010. It is purely a content creation initiative with a unique studio where aficionados enjoy 'live' performances which are being recorded.

It is in the well being space of music - spiritual, classical both Carnatic & Hindustani, folk, poetry, languages, jazz and blues.

The Peninsula Studios is also developing a program to train musicians in instruments that are going extinct and popularizing them.

Universal Music, on the other hand, is home to some of the most distinguished International artistes and is known for breaking new talent across the globe. In India, the company has been in existence since 1969 and owns the 2nd largest 'classic' Bollywood music catalogue apart from a strong 'non-film' music catalogue in the 'ghazals', 'pop' and 'regional' music space.

The two companies have come together to provide a 360 degree support to the artistes who have talent in various genres and languages from the peninsula outside of Bollywood. This project will unearth the talent in different corners of South Asia and showcase their talent.

According to Subroto Chattopadhyay, the founder of The Peninsula Studios, "The vision is to spread joy by nurturing and sharing the best music, poetry, lyrics from the peninsula and indeed be a nursery for talent. The Studio is committed to the creators of music and taking them to audiences they deserve."

Sita Raina, Chief Operating Officer of The Peninsula Studios says, "We facilitate curating content and mentoring talent . Universal Music is our partner of choice who will work with us to popularize the music we create. We believe  Universal’s commitment to music and musicians is unparalled."

The Peninsula Studios  has created a unique 6000 sq ft studio designed by the eminent architect Ratan Batliboi who is also a member of the Advisory Board. Rustom Pavri has designed the acoustics and the equipment for the Studio.

In 2010 The Peninsula Studios premiered The Nokia Music Theatre where over 700 musicians from small towns and villages of Rajasthan were evaluated and 20 of them were mentored to create 10 great tracks which will be launched by TPS and Universal Music India as the first Nokia Music Theatre album in March of 2012.
