Sony Music Entertainment India has announced that it plans to trademark the viral super hit "Why this Kolaveri Di".

This means that the song will be the first song in India to have its first line trademarked.

This will allow Sony to launch various products like compact disks, cassettes, SD cards, film and non-film entertainment content and talent discovery programmes branded "Why this kolaveri di". This will also restrict others from using the line.

"Kolaveri di" song was written and sung by actor Dhanush for Tamil film '3'. It was recorded by Sony Music Entertainment India. It became a viral super hit with over 20 million hits on YouTube. However various versions of the song in different languages are being uploaded everyday from all over the world.
