One of the newbie on the television entertainment domain and a surprise package, Colors channel is set to begin with a new show that blends the flavour of music and the craze of cricket in India.

Called “IPL Rockstar”, this new show will be adding an over the edge element to experience the upcoming Indian Premiere League (IPL) tournament. Making this experience more enriching, for the first time ever, India will witness a music competition right in the IPL cricket stadiums!

The show will be judged by singers extraordinaire Sukhwinder Singh and Kailash Kher and hosted by rapper Hard Kaur and will see twelve talented singers competing to be IPL Rockstar 2010 . Also on the jury panel will be Bollywood superstars and IPL Franchise owners like Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty who will judge the contestants for their stage presence and their ability of shining as a true rock star.

Explaining the concept further, Programming Head of COLORS, Ashvini Yardi said, "IPL Rockstar is a one of a kind musical reality show that is going to move from the studio to the cricketing grounds in midst of real action. The audience will witness a unique marriage of our nation’s biggest passions, cricket and music with this differentiated programming initiative. IPL Rockstar not only promises to raise the bar in the mere conception of live entertainment for television, but also embark the first ever alliance between mainstream television programming and international sporting events. With talented performers and a distinguished jury the show will add music ka tadka to our weekend programming.”

IPL Rockstar premiers on 13th March 2010 at 7 pm and will be telecast every Saturday-Sunday only on COLORS. IPL Rockstar will span over 7 whirlwind weeks and will take singers out of the studio and right in the cricket stadium where they will be performing in front of over a lakh live audience. These shows will then be telecast on COLORS taking the show to millions across the nation. Performing in the show will be twelve talented youngsters who have proven their mettle as singers and performers on various platforms earlier thus raising the bar of the competition. The performances will be held at select IPL match venues before the cricket action begins thus adding an element of grandeur to this prestigious competition.

Apart from IPL Rockstar Viacom18 in collaboration with Indian Premier League (IPL) will broadcast three more entertainment shows such as - Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi IPL Edition, IPL Awards and IPL Nights. The IPL cricketing action begins soon, but the excitement will also be on COLORS and it begins with IPL Rockstar, premiering March 13, every Saturday and Sunday at 7 pm.
