Full stop on tussle between IPL and News casters

Just a couple of hours before the start of extravagant IPL3 tournament, the tussle between IPL authorities and News Channels have come to an end. As earlier reported by Mediamughals, News Broadcasters Association boycotted the tournament as strict media guidelines were imposed on them by the IPL management.
In the latest development both the parties have reached on a consensus after giving shape to an agreement. All the news channels including major English language ones looked keen on the coverage of this much hyped cricket extravaganza as they telecast special programmes on IPL right from Friday morning, 12th of March, the scheduled date for IPL3 to kick off.
Now in its new media guidelines, IPL authorities have allowed news channels to run the footage of any match for news content with a minimum delay of 10 minutes. This footage will be provided by Set Max, official broadcaster of the event. However, earlier this delay time was set at 30 minutes by the IPL management.
Referring back to the previous guidelines, up to 30 seconds of fresh footage of matches were allowed per bulletin for the channels. Whereas websites were left totally deprived of broadcasting of match footages. IPL allowed just 120 seconds for the news channels from the 7 minutes of footage from the whole match. Along with these guidelines, IPL authorities were also reluctant on allowing the repetition of same footage thrice a day.
Along with this, news casters have been granted permission to show an exceptional event during the match with a minimum of 5 minutes delay from the conclusion of main telecast. Also, a total of 2 minutes of footage from every ½ hour telecast can be used by news channels in order to incorporate it in their news content. However, the not more than 5.5 minutes of fresh footage is allowed per match. Two repeat telecasts of the same footage have been permitted by the authorities in each hour of the play. |
