A single member bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul of Delhi High Court has postponed two petitions of BCCI and Private operator Nimbus against Public Broadcaster Prasar Bharati and Union of India till 19th of March. These petitions were regarding the mandatory sharing of Sports Broadcasting Signals specially Cricket Matches with Doordarshan, which deprives private operators from huge possible revenues that could be collected through advertisements during the broadcast.

Both BCCI and Nimbus were looking for the amendment in The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act 1995, which debars cable operators from telecasting cricket matches unless they pay big transmission charges to grab the broadcasting rights. Also these petitions were against the compulsion for cable operators to include DD-1 and DD-2 in the list of their transmission. This compulsion comes under the Sports Broadcasting Signals (mandatory sharing with Prasar Bharati) Act, 2007.

Earlier, the court had asked both the parties to reach an agreement with mutual talks regarding the matter. Additional Solicitor Genaral, A. S. Chandioke put the reservations of Union Government on its behalf and informed court about one leave month of the secretary of Information & Broadcasting Ministry due to his surgery. Whereas, on the other hand Rajiv Nayyar argued in the court on behalf of the cable operators.
