STAR, Jupiter Entertainment form JV

   Print    Email

In a decision to counter the fragmentation in the television industry, STAR Network and Jupiter Entertainment Ventures have announced a joint venture to form a better collective in the South Indian Entertainment scenario.

Jupiter, owned by Rajeev Chandrasekhar's Media and Entertainment Development Company, is also the parent company of Asianet Communications Limited (ACL) which operates channels like Suvarna (Kannada), Sitara (Telugu) and Asianet (Malayalam).
These channels will come under the new venture as will Star Vijay, Star's Tamil general entertainment channel as Star Jupiter will hold the majority share in ACL. According to sources, Star will be the major stakeholder in the venture. It also plans to make additional investments from this initiative and launch new channels in South India in the coming months. The channels falling under Star Jupiter might also share content in the future but will retain their old names.
