Signum Bildtechnik has launched a new multi-channel HDTV playout device 'Signum BlackHive'. This new product follows the concepts of the SigiPlus and SigiStar playout devices and features a similar look and feel. Because the look & feel for the user is still the same, there is no need for extra training to operators. All new features and functions in conjunction with HDTV are handled in the same way as SD is handled.

'Signum BlackHive' is available in variants scaling from one to eight channels. In addition to the still and clip-functions the playout of full videos on all channels is possible. Integrated mixing functions support all standard fade-over effects across the channels saving extra mixing devices. This new system is also enabled to handle both uncompressed as well as various compressed formats like MPEG, mxf, avi, etc. While the focus is on high integration to make the device compact and room saving, its architecture and design makes it very robust against failure.
