Shemaroo Entertainment has tied up with The Citigroup-owned YOU Telecom to broadcast its movies through digital cable.
With this arrangement, You Telecom's digital cable subscribers will be able to watch latest movies, classics and international plays. Shemaroo and You Telecom are helping fight piracy and providing consumers with a legal alternative for entertainment consumption. Subscribers can now enjoy DVD-like picture quality and sound sitting at home, on demand and view it at their convenience.
You Telecom and Shemaroo will work towards building a content library that consists of latest films, old classics and plays. It will be pay per view model under the YOU Multiplex service brand where in customers using YOU set top box can select a movie of their choice and buy it for a day. They can choose movies from five different genres: action, romance, drama, comedy and classics.
"What makes it an exciting proposition is people can watch the movie at any time and any number of times during the day. At any given point of time YOU Tel's digital cable subscribers have a choice starting from six films going upto 21 films to choose from much like what we see in a multiplex, hence the name YOU Multiplex. This also makes YOU Telecom the first MSO to introduce video on demand service to digital cable subscribers," You Telecom CEO E.V.S. Chakravarthy said. |
