Two directors of Bhojpuri TV channel, Mahuaa TV, were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly forging documents to obtain loans of almost Rs.100 crore from three nationalised banks.
Directors PK Tewari and Anand Tewari were arrested following complaints by the banks. Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, and Union Bank of India registered the case with the CBI in January 2012 after they were allegedly cheated by the directors.
The CBI arrested the two directors a couple of days ago. They were produced in a special court and were sent to police custody for interrogation. On Monday the duo were sent to judicial custody for another 14 days after their remand period expired.
Mahuaa Media had recently launched two Bhojpuri and two Bengali news channels. The company was also in the news earlier this year after it was reported that it had to pay interest against loans procured from some banks.
