Barun Das is a CEO of Zee News Ltd. Prior to joining Zee News he  was working as an Executive Vice-President, Media Content & Communications Services (MCCS), which runs Star News, Star Ananda and Star Majha news channels .

At MCCS, Das handled various key divisions like marketing, distribution, research and special projects. He also played the role of Business Head of Star Ananda and was responsible for the recent branding exercise for the channel.

Before MCCS, Das was with Astro All Asia Network based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he was Head of International Business Development. At Astro he played a key role in the formation of the joint venture between Astro and NDTV to start news channels in Malaysia and Indonesia. He was also instrumental in forming a strategic tie-up with UTV to set up kids' channels in Malaysia and Indonesia besides being a key member of the team involved in bidding for the second phase of FM radio licensing for Sun and Astro.

Prior to Astro, Das was an Associate Publisher - Business Division, at the India Today Group. He has a legacy of vast experience that spreads across various media groups including the Ananda Bazaar Patrika Group and Zee Publishing.

His rich experience includes areas like cross country operations, equity transactions and international business development, both in India and abroad.

An ex-National junior Bridge player, Barun, actively pursues his interest in golf, tennis and badminton.

He did B-Tech from IIT-Madras, PGDBM from IIM-Calcutta and is an alumnus of London School of Economics (LSE).
