Aroon Purie entered the publishing business and founded the India Today Group in 1975. The largest and most read news publication. The India Today Group has ventured into various businesses and launched magazines and products such as Business Today (business magazine), Education Today (education), Music Today (thematic classical music), Care Today (charity), India Today Plus (lifestyle), Travel Plus (travel and hospitality), and many more titles.

Television:
He has also ventured into broadcasting space with TV Today which has four channels: Aaj Tak, Headlines Today, Tej and and Delhi Aaj Tak.

Awards:

  • Padma Bhushan 2001,
  • B.D. Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism (1988),
  • 'Journalist of the Year 1990' by Indian Federation of Small and Medium Newspapers,
  • The G.K. Reddy Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism (1993-1994),
  • The Hall of Fame Award from the Advertising Club of Calcutta (2002).

Personal:
Aroon Purie did his schooling from the famous Doon School. He is a graduate in Economics from the London School of Economics and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accounts (England & Wales).

He is married to Rekha Purie. He has 3 children, Kalli Purie, Koel Purie and Ankur Purie.

The catchy, haunting, piano-plinking score won the Best Original Score Oscar (the film's sole award) for Francis Lai from its seven Academy Awards nominations: Best Picture, Best Actor (Ryan O'Neal), Best Supporting Actor (John Marley), Best Actress (Ali MacGraw)....
