Amir Jahangir is a strategic communication & media professional with over 18 years of experience with leading communications and media organizations. He is currently working as the Chief Executive Officer for Jaag Broadcasting Systems Pvt. Ltd., which runs SAMAA TV, the first leading private satellite news channel in Pakistan, providing live transmission simultaneously from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar.

In a short span of less than one year, Amir has been successful in setting international benchmarks on media’s role in health communication, socio-economic empowerment and enterprise development, gender parity and innovation.

Earlier Jahangir has also been a part of the launching team of the Competitiveness Support Fund, the first joint venture initiative of the USAID and the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of Pakistan. He worked on the medium-to long-term media development strategy for Pakistan as incharge for the Innovation Journalism Program, a program in collaboration with the Stanford University. He has also been a strategic communication consultant to various other initiatives on economic & strategic development. he also managed Pakistan's partnership for the Global Competitiveness Network of the World Economic Forum and earned the title of the most innovative strategist for developing the a comprehensive strategy for the Executive Opinion Survey for the Global Competitiveness Rankings of the WEF to collect soft data on Pakistan. The strategy is now being adopted as a success benchmark.

At CSF, he also managed the portfolio of the country partner institute with the World Economic Forum. Through his work on the Innovation Journalism and the World Economic Forum, Amir successfully created a network of more than 500 journalists across Pakistan, with the capability to create content on innovation, social and economic development and competitiveness related issues.

Amir is also the Founder and former Chief Strategy Officer for Mishal (Pvt.) Limited. a media consultancy he established in 2005 for strategic media communications.

Most recently, he was on the forefront of the media industry in Pakistan as the CEO for Television Business Production Limited, the leading production company for business and economic news programs in the country. He was also responsible for the strategic planning, content management and operations management, as the CEO and Board Member of the Vision Network Television Limited, which launched the first internationally branded business and economic news channel CNBC Pakistan. Amir has been associated with various research & consultancy firms for analysis on sectors including telecom, media, information communication technology and other socio-economic issues.

Amir has been the youngest CEO for the only two non-family based television channels in Pakistan. CNBC Pakistan at 31 years and SAMAA TV at 36 years of age (all other television channels in Pakistan are mostly family owned businesses, with management comprising of close family members). He also serves as a Program Advisor at the VINNOVA-Stanford Research Center of Innovation Journalism since April 2009.

On the personal front, Amir has been married for over six years and resides in Karachi. While his work involves extensive traveling, which has now become his passion; he also makes time for classical music, poetry and books
