BBC appoints Deepak Shourie as South Asia Director for BBC Worldwide Channels

BBC Worldwide Channels has appointed Deepak Shourie, as Director, BBC Worldwide Channels, South Asia. Shourie, a veteran pay-TV and media industry expert, will be based in New Delhi and spearhead the management of the channels in the South-Asia region.
Working with the senior management strategy team in Singapore and London, Shourie will report into Mark Whitehead, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BBC Worldwide Channels Asia.
The most recent assignment for Shourie has been and Managing Director for Discovery Communications India where he spent around seven years at the helm. During the long stint he launched Discovery Travel & Living in India, and made the company’s India business profitable.
Besides Discovery, Shourie worked as Group General Manager at Living Media - publishers of India Today. He is credited with the conception and launch of the competitive weekly news magazine Outlook at the India Today Group. His next move was as the Executive President for The Hindustan Times and later as CEO at Zee TV.
Shourie comes to BBC Worldwide Channels with extensive experience in the media industry in India. |
