Luis Silberwasser to be the International Head of Content at Discovery Communications

Following the announcement of Discovery Communication’s plans to launch its women-oriented lifestyle channel, TLC, the company now makes appointment of Luis Silberwasser to the new role of International Head of Content for Discovery Networks International (DNI).

He will be reporting to Mark Hollinger, President and CEO of the division. The International Head of Content role is being created to accelerate DNI's ratings success across the company's global channel portfolio of over 100 networks in more than 180 countries. At the same time he will be working over programming initiatives for TLC around the world.

A veteran of DNI, Silberwasser has held several leadership positions within the company including senior vice president of international strategic planning for Discovery Networks International as well as vice president of affiliate sales and business development and vice president of marketing for Discovery Networks Latin America.

Silberwasser currently serves as Senior Vice President of the Content Group for Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic and General Manager of U.S. Hispanic Networks. Prior to joining Discovery in 1998, Silberwasser held management positions with Sunbeam Corporation and Procter & Gamble.

In other personnel news, Sahar Elhabashi, Chief Operating Officer, Discovery Networks International, will be leaving the company and her position will not be replaced.
