Carolina Lightcap has been elevated to the position of President for the Disney Channels Worldwide. With this promotion Lightcap will report to Anne Sweeney, Co-chair, Disney Media Networks and President, Disney/ABC Television Group. “She will assume her new position within the Disney/ABC Television Group effective immediately and will relocate from Buenos Aires to Burbank,” states the release by The Walt Disney Company.

Lightcap, an executive with over 20 years of experience in the media/entertainment industry, joined The Walt Disney Company in 2000 as Vice President, Marketing, Media Networks, Latin America. As her new mandate, she will be guiding Disney Channels Worldwide through its next period of growth. Disney Channels are the global leader in kid-focused, family-inclusive entertainment.

Besides, the Disney Channel global executive team representing Programming and Production, Business Affairs, Business Planning and Development, Marketing, Brand Management, Advertising Sales and Radio Disney, will now be accountable to her.

Most recently Lightcap served in the dual roles of Senior Vice President, Programming and Creative Affairs, Disney Channels Latin America, and Chief Marketing Officer, The Walt Disney Company, Latin America. During her tenure in this new position she has been instrumental in the transition of Disney Channels from a premium to basic service and the organizational restructure and relocation of the teams from Miami to Buenos Aires. Moreover, she also oversaw the successful rebranding of Jetix to Disney XD and the launch of Playhouse Disney Channel throughout the region.

A versatile and well-regarded executive, Lightcap began her career in media in 1986, working for such companies as Reuters Ltd. and Editorial Atlantida in New York and Buenos Aires.

Prior to joining Disney, she served as Vice President, Programming, Sales and Marketing, Sky Latin America Partners, based in Miami. She has also been associated with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment from 1996 through 1999, serving ultimately as Executive Director, Latin America and has worked for Fox Latin American Channel.

And in recognition of his extraordinary and continuing contribution, Gary Marsh will assume the new title of Chief Creative Officer in addition to his current title of President, Entertainment, Disney Channels Worldwide, remaining in charge of all program development, creative and production, reporting to Lightcap, informs The Walt Disney Company.
